This preferred budget for a storytelling audiotape is based on figures available to me as of August 4, 1996.

Studio time @ $35-50 per hour (includes engineer; varies regionally)
• recording: 6-10 hours $200-500
• editing & mixing: 6-10 hours $200-500
• blank tape: $50

Coach/consultant $1000
Inserts ("j-cards")

• photo $150-350
• design $100-250
• printing $200-250

Duplication

• duplication of first 50 tapes: $125 OR
• duplication of first 500 tapes: $650

Totals:

• low: $2025
• high: $3550
