Description

STORYTELL, sponsored by the School of Library and Information Studies at Texas Woman's University, is a forum for discussion about storytelling.

All persons interested in storytelling are invited to participate: professional storytellers, amateur storytellers, people concerned with the rich history of storytelling, people who enjoy listening to stories, and those who speculate about the place of storytelling in the 21st century.

The list will promote collaboration among those interested in storytelling, reflecting diverse viewpoints from around the world.

The list is a place for discussion of issues and interaction on topics of concern to the storytelling community. It can serve as a source for information on conferences, workshops, and events or a place to ask (and answer) questions about derivations of stories, intellectual freedom concerns, or organization of storytelling events.

How to Subscribe

Send an email from your own computer:

To:
Subject: ( leave blank or, if your mail program insists, insert the same message as in the message box)
Message: ( in the body of message, type the two lines below, substituting your own email address for "email_address":

subscribe storytell email_address
end

You must subscribe with the same email address you wish to receive STORYTELL messages.

Incidentally, you can UNSUBSCRIBE the same way, but with the message:

unsubscribe storytell email_address
end

A common but annoying mistake is to send a request for unsubscribing to the list ( ), rather than to the automated adminstration of the list ([email protected]). This doesn't work, and forces all the other subscribers to receive your message.

Want to know more about your options for Storytell, such as subscribing to the digest form? View the Instruction page for the list and its archives.

The FAQ

The Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for the STORYTELL list are at

Tim Sheppard's web site (http://www.timsheppard.co.uk/story/faq.html).

This is ostensibly the FAQ for a storytelling newsgroup, alt.arts.storytelling. In fact, it is a brief introduction to storytelling and storytellers. It has listings of internet resources, organizations, books and magazines, and more. As such, it serves well as the FAQ for STORYTELL.
