I really liked this blog entry. I'm very unrules based in my story telling. I follow some general rules that work for me and me only, but I consistently change when I find better methods. I live far away from my children and use storytelling over the phone to help keep them engaged and to teach them things.

I included my blog which includes a story that I made up with my daughter that works really well at bedtime and keeps her engaged.

Thanks, Marie. That's a clear distinction, and might make the discussion more palatable for many storytellers. We tend to be against "standards," but perhaps we would embrace "ethics"?

I'd written something a few minutes ago but am having trouble passing this protection code. I think I am typing it correctly...

I was basically saying I think we are not talking about standards such as proficiency standards which are often tested but ETHICS.

Almost every professtional organization I know has or at least alludes to a CODE OF ETHICS. I believe most people automatically ASSume that others in their organization adhere to some sort of ETHICAL standards. Years later when mispractices appear, others within the profession are shocked and can't believe that persons doing the same thing they are, are behaving inappropriately.

I believe striving to develop a CODE of ETHICS would be a worthwhile endeavor.

thank you
