I'm a high school librarian. I teach beginning storytelling to students. I have always "talked" about the importance of visualization in learning stories. It has come to my attention that many students have a problem doing this. Many don't automatically form images in their minds when they read and that makes reading a struggle for them. Because they are not used to doing this, they find it almost impossible when they are learning stories too.

This time around, I decided to add some computer technology and it was very successful. Using the program Inspiration, I asked them to create a story board for their stories. The program itself has many images, and they were also able to search google to add others. They printed it out. This story board is only intended be a learning tool in the classroom and it's not being shared or published anywhere so I don't think copyright is an issue.

It worked! The students really got into it! Some who were originally not very enthusiastic about the storytelling project perked up when we added the technology. They became really motivated to create these story boards. Now they had a really useful tool to help them visualize and learn their stories.
